Book Talk and Signing with USJ's Stanley Battle, Ph.D.
Join us for a book talk and signing on the recent publication from the Urban League of Greater Hartford, The State of Black Hartford 2016.
Tuesday, February 7, from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Mercy Hall, Crystal Room, First Floor
The University of Saint Joseph will host a book talk and signing on the recent publication from the Urban League of Greater Hartford, The State of Black Hartford 2016. The book addresses challenges that African Americans face at both the national and local level through a series of briefs and chapters. The inaugural edition of the State of Black Hartford was published in 1994. This new addition is more scholarly, and although it is impossible to capture all of the personal needs of residents in Hartford, scholars pay close attention to how Blacks are perceived by the public. In addition, the authors incorporate barriers to education, economic stability, health and welfare. Metrics and case studies are used to better understand Black Hartford.
Dr. Battle has a Ph. D. from the University of Pittsburgh and has authored ten books and over 50 refereed journal articles. He is the Editor of Social Work in Public Health, a journal published by Taylor and Francis.
The program will take place from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will include a reception and book signing. Books will be available for purchase at event.
Free and open to the public, but please rsvp so that we can plan accordingly.
